Ascension is not a solitary act; it’s a shared journey. As we commemorate Surge’s 10th anniversary, we reflect on a decade of rising together and empowering leaders of color to transform education. At the 2025 Alumni Convening, we celebrate The Power of Ascension, this collective strength that has fueled our movement. Together, in Scottsdale, Arizona, we will breathe, bond, and bring to life the power of our shared vision as we prepare to rise to even greater heights. Through retreating, we replenish our strength. Through reflecting, we deepen our connection. And through reimagining, we shape the future of our communities.

This convening is for us - meet us in Scottsdale for a convening dedicated to amplifying our work, empowering our communities, and transforming the future of education!

The objectives of the 2025 Surge Alumni Convening are to:

Retreat: Slowing down to deepen connection with ourselves and across networks, binding our alums tighter as a collective of changemakers.
Reflect: Collectively and individually reflect on progress and next steps, while growing our knowledge and sharing our expertise.
Reimagine: Collectively reimagine our responsibility to Surge, our youth, our communities, and to our cities.
#FuelTheSurge Into the Next Decade: Examine and identify what the work looks like as we move into the next decade of the Surge Institute.

Ticket Information

We’re thrilled to share that Surge is covering 66% of the ticket costs for alumni to attend this event! The price you see below already reflects this reduced rate, meaning you’ll only pay a small portion of the full cost. This is an incredible opportunity to access a high-value experience at a fraction of the typical cost.

“Save My Seat” Payment Plans

We are also happy to offer a “Save My Seat” payment plan option! For those who want to break up their registration into a few payments or who need more time to secure employer sponsorship, you can confirm your spot with a 30% deposit. Simply choose “Deposit Payment” option after selecting the your ticket. Your remaining balance is due by April 1st, 2025, and you are welcome to make any number of payments in any amount(s) leading up to that date.

FRIDAY'S CELEBRATION

Get ready for an unforgettable Friday Celebration! We’re opening up this special night to your guests for a ticket cost of $125 per person, but space is limited, so be sure to register in advance. Please note that this exclusive event is the only part of our program open to guests, making it a truly can’t-miss experience. Stay tuned as we reveal more about the exciting festivities in store!

The deadline to secure a guest ticket is April 6, 2025.

HOTEL & TRAVEL

This year, your registration includes a 2-night resort stay at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort, which we will book for you.

Check In: Thursday, May 8, 2025

Check Out: Saturday, May 10, 2025

Room Rate: $269 per night plus taxes and fees (single/double occupancy)

Your reservation will be handled on your behalf, and no further action is required. If you opt out of the hotel stay, the cost will not be deducted from your registration, and no room will be booked.

Please note: All attendees are responsible for the costs of any additional accommodation requests and any incidental expenses incurred during the stay.

The Fairmont will place an incidental hold of $200.00 per night on your provided card at check-in for incidental expenses. We recommend providing a credit card, as providing a debit card will result in the funds being withdrawn from your account temporarily and may not be released for approximately up to 7-10 business days, depending on your bank provider.

Guest Room Cancellation Policy: If you choose to cancel, no cancellation charge for your guest room will apply prior to 6:00 PM (local time), up to 7 days prior to arrival. Beyond that time, you will be responsible for any charges associated with your stay.

MULTIPLE OCCUPANTS Please be aware of the additional fees below associated with multiple guests staying in a room.

Occupancy Fee: A charge of $30.00 plus tax per person, per night will be added to your bill for each guest over double occupancy. There will be no charge for children under 18 years of age; however, there is a maximum occupancy of 4 people per room.

Resort Fee Increase: For accommodations with double occupancy or more, an additional daily resort fee of $18.24 will apply. Attendees are responsible for covering the difference in cost for any additional guests staying in their room. This fee will be processed through the registration platform and included in your total payment.

EVENT POLICIES

Photo & Video Release

By attending the event, you consent to interview(s), photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, webcasts, promotional purposes, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by Surge Institute and its affiliates and representatives. Images, photos, and/or videos may be used to promote similar Surge Institute events in the future, highlight the event, and exhibit the capabilities of Surge Institute. You release Surge Institute, its employees, and each and all persons involved from any liability connected with taking, recording, digitizing, or publication and use of interviews, photographers, computer images, video and/or sound recordings.

By attending the event, you waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment of royalties in connection with any use, exhibition, streaming, webcasting, or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such use, exhibiting, broadcasting, or other publication irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by Surge Institute or the person or entity designated to do so by Surge Institute.

Cancellation Policy

If your cancellation is received on or before March 31, 2025, we will refund 50% of the total registration fee cost. Cancellations on April 1, 2025 or later will not receive a refund.
